King Manuel's Study

I was in my study and I had decided to summon my daughter Isabella as I had found whom I thought would be a suitable match for her to marry. I waited for her to come.

Father has asked for me to come to his study. I go to the door of his study so I knock on the door and his chamberman answered the door and he proceeded to escort me to my Father.

. Yes Father. I was given a message to come to see you. You look well. How can I help you. I am happy to see you.

My chamberman escorted Isabella to me and I had to say I was very happy to see her. She had grown a lot and was now nearly an adult. I asked her to sit down and I looked towards her.

"Isabella, as you probably are aware, you are now of the age to marry a suitable husband, and I have been deep in thought about a possible match for you. When I was looking through potential suitors, a certain name came to mind, in Charles V of Spain, heir to the Holy Roman Empire, a grand title that will be. I do have a portrait of him here, sent to me by his father, what are your thoughts? I say to her as I passed her the photo of Charles.

I followed the chamberman to my father.  I smile at him.  He gestures for me to come to sit next to him.

. Yes, Father.  I was told that you wished to see me.  You look well.  Father handed me a portrait.  . He is handsome.  He looks amiable.  Heir to the Holy Roman Emperor that is a truly impressive title.  This is the man that you wish for me to marry.  I think that I would be privileged to marry him.  Do you know what his demeanor.  Is he a kind?.  I trust your judgement.

I looked at Isabella as she looked at the portrait of Charles.

"I am pleased to hear that you like the look of the man, Isabella. He is going to inherit a grand title and with it comes great wealth. The match with Charles, is a great alliance opportunity for us. It is my wish that you marry him and from I have learnt he is very kind and generous. Of course, like most he does get angry and can be distracted by wars, but in general he is likeable and fair. What are your thoughts?

. Thank you Father. I am happy that you are happy with me. I will have my trunk ready so that we can leave within the week. I am truly excited about meeting Charles. You have said that he has a good disposition. I hope that I will please him and make a good Holy Roman Empress.

. Thank you Father for making this match. You need not worry I will do my duties to my husband, my country. I hope that I will make you proud of me and to have a good marriage. It is good that he is a kind man.
