Kingdom of Naples

The Kingdom of Naples comprised the part of the Italian Peninsula that was south of the Papal States between 1282 and 1816. The kingdom was created as a result of the War of the Sicilian Vespers in 1282 where it broke from Castile. The Kingdom was home to many members of the Angevin family and also that of the Aragonese family.

Kingdom of Sardinia

The Kingdom of Sardinia was a state in Southern Europe from the 14th century through to the 19th century. The Kingdom was founded in 1324 when the states of Sardinia was conquered by James II of Aragon. Following the union of the crowns of Aragon and Castile this kingdom became part of the vastly expanding Spanish Empire. In 1720 the island was ceded by the Hapsburg and Bourbon claimants to the Spanish throne to the Duke of Savoy.

The Kingdom of Tuscany was a grand Duchy that existed with interruptions from 1569 to 1859. The Kingdom replaced that of Florence and it was part of the Holy Roman Empire up until the kid 18th century. Tuscany was ruled by the Medici family until 1737.

The Doge's Palace

The Doge's Palace is a grand palace located in Venice that is the home of the Doge of Venice. The palace dates back as far as the 9th century. The palace was however destroyed by a fire and it was reconstructed in the 12th century.

Copertino Castle was originally built during the Norman period as a defensive fortress. It is rumoured that Isabella Queen of Naples was born here too.

Quirinal Palace was built in 1583 by Pope Gregory XIII as one of his papal summer residences. The Palace was not fully completed until the 17th century. The Palace has been the home of 30 popes.
