King Richard III
I am King Richard III of England. I was born on 2nd October 1452 at Fotheringay Castle and I am the son of Richard, 3rd Duke of York and Cecily Neville. I was also the brother to King Edward IV of England and George, Duke of Clarence. I am also the uncle of the Princes in the Tower.
I was the Duke of Gloucester and following the death of my brother Edward IV in 1483 I became Lord Protector of England and later claimed the throne of England after declaring my brother's children as illegitimate. On 12th July 1472 I married Anne Neville and together we had one child Edward of Middleham who sadly died in 1484 shortly before my beloved wife. I also fathered two illegitimate children John of Gloucester and Katherine, Countess of Huntingdon.
I ruled England for almost two years. My reign came to an end on 22nd August 1485 at the Battle of Bosworth Field when the army of Henry Tudor won after an intervention from my once trusted friend Thomas Stanley and following my death the reign of the Plantagenet House also came to an end after 331 years on the throne and the new Tudor House followed.
At the time of my death I was 32 years of age and I was laid to rest on 25th August 1485 at Greyfriars in Leicester and later buried in Leicester Cathedral.
